People of Vis are also famous as wine-growers of many sort of wine.

About 5000 people inhabit two main towns – Vis and Komiža – as well as numerous villages and bays of the island.

The mentioned towns are situated in two deep bays: Komiža on the western part of the island and Vis on its northern part.

The island is rich with bays and small islands.

The southern part is abounding in natural bays among which Rukavac, Srebrena, Ruda, Vela and Mala Trovna, Stiniva... are to be singled out.

On eastern part of Vis there are smaller islands Paržanj, Budikovac, Ravnik and Greben.

The island Biševo with its famous Blue Cave at 5 km distance from Vis and, together with the islands Palagruža, Jabuka, Brusnik and St. Andrea belongs to the territory of Vis.
