The island Vis, known to be cleanest part
of Adriatic, is situated far away from the coast and industry.
Because of it's particular location, it is rich in fish what made
hospitable islanders great fishermans over the centuries.
People of Vis are also famous as wine-growers of many sort of
wine.
About 5000 people inhabit two main towns – Vis and Komiža
– as well as numerous villages and bays of the island.
The mentioned towns are situated in two deep bays: Komiža on the western
part of the island and Vis on its northern part.
The island is rich with bays and small islands.
The southern part is abounding in natural bays among which Rukavac,
Srebrena, Ruda, Vela and Mala Trovna, Stiniva... are to be singled
out. |
